Are You Recession Ready – Is Your Resume?

Recession.  It’s an awful word causing most everyone uncomfortable feelings and emotions.  Especially if you aren’t comfortable with your work situation.  These days, is anyone truly layoff proof?  If you’re not ready, at least your resume can and should be.

Depending on who you ask, we’ve either been in a recession for many months or we are on the verge of one.  Most, however, can agree we find ourselves in uncertain times again today.  Covid taught us just about anything can and will happen; but this economic uncertainty puts many of today’s employees in an uncomfortable mind set when it comes to job security.

Resume readiness is one easy area you can focus on in order to increase your comfort level in a recessionary environment.  Whether you’ve either experienced a recession before, or heard about it from your parents, history shows us recession almost always equates to layoffs.  Layoffs usually come as a surprise to employees so let’s make sure if that happens, you are as ready as you can be.  Having a current resume that reflects you in the best way possible isn’t a crystal ball to predict pink slips, but at the very least it can reduce those awful feelings of not being prepared at all.

There are just as many views on the topic of recession and as there are number of opinions on what your resume should look like as far as format, accomplishments and artificial intelligence factors.  We will focus more on specific resume writing topics in the future.  For now, first things first.  If you don’t have an up to date, launch ready professional looking resume, NOW is a great to begin the process.  Time block some time aside and get after it!
